Harry Von Kaenel, Jr.

Harry A. Von Kaenel, Jr., age 80. Passed away on Saturday, December 4.

Born on April 15, 1941 in Ottoville, Ohio to Harry and Alice (Burke) Von Kaenel, Sr., he graduated from Andrew-Toledo Barber College in January 1971. After working for a short time as a barber, he was hired as a boiler operator and custodian for Washington Local Schools, where he worked for 32 years, retiring in 2006. Upon retirement, he became a world traveler. Harry was married to Carol for 26 years at the time of his passing. An avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, he also enjoyed watching numerous other sports. He loved sweets – cookies, pies, desserts, anything with sugar. Harry will be most remembered for his kind, gentle and loving nature. Most people who knew him described him as a “great guy.”

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Von Kaenel; daughter, Melissa (Thomas) Wolf; grandchildren, Izzie and Isaac; son, Ryan and wife; ex-wife Diane Wirrath; devoted nephew, John (Deanna) Von Kaenel; stepdaughter, Karen (Dennis) Meyer; step-grandchildren, Aiden and Alea; brother, David (Diane) Von Kaenel; and sister, Carol Von Kaenel. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ann, Jack, Tommy and Robert.

Family and friends were received on December 11 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee. Memorial contributions may be directed to WLMB, Channel 40 in Toledo. 

Leslie Graven, Jr.

Leslie Leon Graven, Jr., age 87, passed away on Saturday, December 4 at the Otterbein Monclova Senior Life Neighborhood. 

Born on April 18, 1934 to Leslie Leon, Sr. and Catherine Bertha Graven in Ambridge, Pa., he was a graduate of Macomber High School in the class of 1952. On January 16, 1954 he married Rita Rose (Ziarno) in Toledo; she preceded him in death on September 6, 2019.

Leslie is survived by his children, Richard (Mary Pat) Graven, of Maumee, David (Linda) Graven, of Maumee, Thomas (Lisa) Graven, of Waterville, Duane (Lisa) Graven, of Maumee, Kenneth Graven, of Swanton, Cynthia (James) Stover, of Maumee, and Sandra (Jack) Bak, of Toledo; 21 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita and his parents.

Trisha Ansara

Trisha Jean Ansara, age 54, of Waterville, passed away on Thursday, December 9 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. 

Born on October 25, 1967 to Thomas Aloysius and Patricia Aileen (Randall) Solosky in Dearborn, Mich., Trisha was a 1989 graduate of the Central Michigan University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in general and community dietetics. On October 19, 1991, she married Samuel David Ansara, with whom she recently celebrated a 30th wedding anniversary. Trisha was a dedicated and learned dietician and was most recently employed at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Sylvania. Throughout her career, she cared for thousands of patients and her approach to nutrition and health was impactful to everyone around her. 

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee and the Northwest Ohio Dietetic Association. Trisha enjoyed gardening and travel, but time spent with friends and family provided her with the most joy.

She is survived by her husband, Sam; daughter, Alyssa Ansara; parents, Thomas and Patricia Solosky; brothers, Thomas (Lee Ann), of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Anthony Solosky, of Westland, Mich.; and sister, Tina (Steve) Lazuka, of Brownstown, Mich.

Visitation took place on December 15 at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home in Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to Diabetes Youth Services, 2100 Central Ave., No. 110, Toledo, OH 43606 (
