Pet Adoptathons Planned At Andersons

4PawsSake will hold pet adoptathons at The Andersons, 530 Illinois Ave., Maumee, on the following Saturdays: July 19; August 2, 16 and 23; September 13 and 20; and October 11 and 18. Hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Bow Wow Bash Fund-Raiser Set At Zoo

The Toledo Area Humane Society’s Bow Wow Bash will be held on Friday, July 25 in the Nairobi Pavilion at the Toledo Zoo from 7:00 p.m. to midnight. The event will include music by Johnny Rocker and the Hitmen, dancing, and grazing and drinks. Raffles will be available throughout the evening with all proceeds benefiting the Humane Society. Dog Days Of Summer Festival Announced

The Little Sisters of the Poor will host the 2008 Dog Days of Summer Festival on Sunday, August 3 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Home for the Elderly, 930 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon. The festival will feature a pooch parade at 4:30 p.m. Participants may enter a costumed dog for $5.00 or a float made out of a cart or wagon for $10.00. The event also will offer a pooch party store, arts and crafts vendors, $1,000 raffle, bingo, music, kids’ games, food and a doggie day care to give animals a break from the festivities. Nun-Better dog biscuits, made by the sisters, residents and staff of the Sacred Heart Home, will be on sale.To purchase raffle tickets, register for the parade or craft fair, or volunteer, call (419) 698-4331 or e-mail devoregon@littlesistersofthepoor.org. All proceeds will assist the Little Sisters of the Poor in caring for area elderly.

Weekly Dog Training Sessions Scheduled

The Toledo Area Humane Society will offer reward-based training for dogs on Thursdays throughout 2008. Led by certified trainer John Brown, classes will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Humane Society, 1920 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee. Three classes – basic, movement and management – will be offered alternating weeks. Each class has space for up to 10 dogs and the fee is $10.00 per class. There is no advance sign-up, and participants may take as many or few classes as required.The classes use positive reinforcement and clickers, and dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations. Humane Society Offers Pet Nail Clippings

The Toledo Area Humane Society, located at 1920 Indian Wood Circle in Maumee, offers nail clippings every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary and a $5.00 donation will be requested. For more information, call (419) 891-0705.
