Robert Bowen, Jr.
Robert Alan Bowen, Jr., age 62, of Maumee, passed away on Wednesday, November 7 after an illness.
Born on February 13, 1956, to Robert and Olive “Jerry” (Hollister) Bowen, Sr., both of Maumee, he attended Maumee High School and The University of Toledo, studying political science. For most of his working life, Mr. Bowen owned Bowen Parking, a business started by his parents in Toledo. Most recently, he drove school buses for Sylvania City Schools. He spent many years racing BMW 2002s at Waterford Hills and Mid-Ohio racetracks and was a soccer referee in leagues throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
Mr. Bowen is survived by his sons, Charles (Rebecca) Bowen and Alan (Kaileigh) Bowen; sister, Barbara Stockard (Marshall); niece, Olivia Stockard; and ex-wife, Joan Schultz. He had four grandchildren, Miranda, Gwendolyn, Elliot and Emerson.
Services took place on November 10 at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee. Memorial donations may be made to the Sports Car Club of America Foundation at sccafoundation.com.
Robert D. Blodgett, age 85, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, November 12, in his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Toledo on August 24, 1933 to Deforest and Dorothy (Brobst) Blodgett, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was employed by AP Parts, beginning as a general laborer, was promoted to general foreman and retired as a superintendent. A handyman at heart, Mr. Blodgett enjoyed repairing appliances and automobiles, which he worked on with his sons. He always put family first and loved going to his sons’ baseball games. He also loved his dogs and enjoyed Western movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Alvin and Margie Smith; son, Steve Blodgett; and granddaughter, Jennifer Blodgett. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Cleta Sue; sons, Mike (Tina), Dan (Peggy) and Kevin (Heather) Blodgett; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy (Janice) Napier; sisters, Judy (Tom) Steel and Jackie (Mike) Finney; four-legged companion, Eddie; and many other family members and friends.
Friends may visit the family beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, where funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm. The family suggests memorial contributions to Maumee Valley Save-a-Pet, Ohio Senior Living Hospice or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
