Doris Osburn
Doris M. Osburn, age 81, of Maumee, passed away on Wednesday, November 29. Born in Maumee on April 8, 1936 to Philmore and Alice (Brooks) Digby, she was a lifelong resident of Maumee and graduated from Maumee High School, where she was a majorette and a member of the choir. After high school, she worked at City Loan and Savings, leaving to marry and raise a family. Mrs. Osburn later returned to the workforce as a podiatrist assistant in Maumee. She then put aside her own career to help establish IMCO Carbide Tool (a family-owned company). Later, she worked at Casual Kapers in Marco Island, Fla., and as a jewelry consultant, specializing in diamonds, for Service Merchandise in Holland, Ohio. Mrs. Osburn was a true family woman, dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them by cheering them on during sporting events, attending school activities, going out to eat and making sure the family gathered during holidays. She also enjoyed dancing, bowling, politics and golf. She was a member of Heather Downs Country Club and was the first single woman to be accepted as a member of the Valleywood Country Club. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis (Walter) Minnick; children, Perry (Debi) Osburn, Julie (Dave) Clymer, Matthew (Kimberly) Osburn and Todd (Marliza) Osburn; grandchildren, Alexis (David) Beachdell, Brett Osburn, Erica (Matt) Braun, Aaron (Kat) Whitlow, Steven (Lindsay) Whitlow, Jillian Whitlow, Joshua (Jess) Whitlow, Benjamin Osburn, Catherine Osburn-Price, Kelsey Osburn, Mitchell Osburn, Andrew (Ashley) Osburn and Karen Osburn; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles; and husband of more than 30 years, Lawrence. Visitation and funeral services took place on December 2 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, followed by interment in Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville.
