Robert “Rob” Berry, age 56, of West Palm Beach, Fla., passed away on June 28.
Mr. Berry loved all animals and was employed at the Toledo Area Humane Society before moving to Florida nearly 30 years ago. He was employed at the Palm Beach Zoo before working as an assistant to the tennis pro at the Palm Beach Country Club. Known for his sharp sense of humor and fighting spirit, he was a loving, kind, considerate, caring, wonderful, understanding and gentle son, brother, uncle and great-uncle.
Surviving are his brother, Steve Berry; sister, Linda Berry; nieces, Elycia (Brian) Ward and Colleen (Brett) Statkin; and great-niece, Lark Statkin. He was preceded in death by his father, Duane “Bode” Berry; mother, Janet Berry; sister, Kathy Taylor; and brother-in-law, James Taylor. A true blessing, Rob will be missed by all who loved him.
A celebration of life service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maumee, followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery in Maumee. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Thomas Francis Michalski, age 69, passed away on Saturday, August 4.
Born in Toledo on January 8, 1949 to Stephen and Sophia Michalski, he attended Bowsher High School, where he met his future bride, Carol Ann Uerkwitz, in 1967. They married in 1969 and recently celebrated 49 years of wedded bliss. Mr. Michalski received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from The University of Toledo in 1972. He and Carol lived in Maumee while Tom took a job with Owens-Illinois as a software engineer and received several patents. He also worked at Electro Plasma Inc., Non Contact International and Finishing Brands. Mr. Michalski was a devoted husband and became a loving father and grandfather to his two sons, Greg and Chris, and granddaughter, Colleen Michalski. He and his wife loved vacationing in Marblehead and relaxing on their boat. He enjoyed electronics and was always tinkering with computers and software.
Preceded in death by his father, Stephen; and sister, Stephanie, he is survived by his mother, Sophia; wife, Carol; sons, Greg and Chris; granddaughter, Colleen Michalski; and sister, Jeanette (Harry, Jr.) Morell.
Visitation was on August 8 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, followed by interment in Fort Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherry Street Mission.
