Robert Franklin Pomeroy, age 81, passed away on Thursday, September 6, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Swanton on August 24, 1937, he was the first-born of five siblings. Upon his graduation from Maumee High School, Mr. Pomeroy enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably as an aviation mechanic aboard the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown. After his discharge, he got married and started his career with Columbia Gas of Ohio. He enjoyed his retirement, filling his time with shortwave radio and following politics with vigor. More recently, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and his dog, Gizmo.
Mr. Pomeroy is survived by his children, Julie Pomeroy Munson and Robert (Jackie) Pomeroy; grandchildren Caleb, Madison and Mia; and siblings, Gary and James (Linda). He was preceded in death by his second wife, Barbara; parents, Robert Randall and Ruby; and siblings, Elizabeth and Susan.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 21 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee from 11:00 a.m. until the service at noon. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Michael R. “Mike” Kramer, age 61, of Maumee, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, September 11.
Born in Toledo on July 12, 1957 to Marvin “Tony” Kramer and T. Ann (Meek) Wagner, he graduated in 1975 from Maumee High School. He worked at Jeep for more than 25 years and was most recently employed as a team supervisor. Mr. Kramer was also a retired firefighter, EMT and fire inspector for the Maumee Fire Division, where he served for 21 years and reached the rank of lieutenant of heavy rescue. Mike spent most of his free time outdoors and enjoyed snow and water skiing, fishing, hunting with his chocolate labs and watching the Ohio State football team.
He is survived by his sister, Toni (Ed Vaznelis) Hamilton; brother, Blair (Megan) Kramer; nieces, Casey and Lindsay (Adrian); nephews, Kellen, Clay and Sascha; stepchildren, Dennis (Andrea) Smith and Christina Smith; grandchildren, Addison, Bailey, Hannah, Riley and Spencer; and close friend, Sharyll Beavers. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation and the funeral service took place on September 16 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Toledo Area Humane Society.
