Florence Somers
Florence Marie “Flo” Somers, age 92, of Waterville, flew away on Sunday, February 11 to get on board with her late husband, Doc. A data processer with Electric Autolite, she was instrumental during the merger of Prestolite with Electric Autolite. Mrs. Somers shared her nine decades of wisdom with all who crossed her path. She was respected and loved by all who knew her. Surviving are her daughter, Stacy (Mitchell) Muszynski; sister, Doris Ackerman; daughter -in-law, Isolde Somers; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry “Doc” Somers; son, Clark Somers; five brothers; and one sister. Services were private.

Ralph Moore
Ralph Kenneth Moore, age 82, of Monclova, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, with his loving wife of 56 years, Betty, and his four daughters at his side. Born in Toledo on March 26, 1935 to Kenneth and Thelma (Meinka) Moore, he graduated in 1953 from Libbey High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1960. Mr. Moore became a master finish carpenter with the help and a little push from his grandfather, August Meinka. He was the coordinator and instructor of the Carpenter Apprentice Program, serving in that position for nearly 30 years and retiring in 1990. Retirement didn’t last long, however, as he worked at Flight Safety at the Toledo Express Airport and was in charge of building maintenance for 10 more years before retiring a second time. Mr. Moore loved Michigan as if it was his second home. He loved to camp at Mackinaw Campground in Mackinaw City. He also enjoyed traveling with Betty to Hawaii and cruising to Alaska. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Toledo and a life member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 248. Surviving are his wife, Betty; daughters, Denise (Thomas) Koch, Brenda Woo, Cheryl (Ron) Spieldenner and Sandra (Bob) Alder; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation took place on February 18 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee. Funeral services were conducted on February 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by interment in Roth Memorial Cemetery in Monclova. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
