Ruth H. Elendt, age 90, passed away on Sunday, July 1.
Born in Toledo on February 24, 1928 to Milton and Grace Kane, she graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1946 and from The University of Toledo with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1950. A member of the Alpha Omega Pi International Women’s Fraternity, Mrs. Elendt was a lover of books and an avid bridge player who loved to play with family and friends. She had a daily ritual of watching Jeopardy and was always everybody’s favorite Trivial Pursuit partner. She loved to travel both internationally and nationwide with her husband and family. She never met a cookie she didn’t like.
Mrs. Elendt is survived by her sons, Dave (Paula), Jim (Leslie) and Mark Elendt; daughters, Gena (Kevin) Barber and Anne (Kenneth) Beck; son-in-law, Jerry Buescher; grandchildren, Nicole (Brian), Stephanie (Katie), Jeremy, Nathan (Allison), Collin, Austin, Justin, Johnny, Charlie and Audrey; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Eugene Elendt; and daughter, Mary Buescher.
Visitation took place on July 6 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee. The funeral Mass was celebrated on July 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee, followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Robert “Rob” Allan Frankforther, age 35, of Whitehouse, passed away on Sunday, July 1.
Born to John and Susan (Myers) Frankforther on September 13, 1982, he graduated from Maumee High School in 2000. He loved playing the guitar, writing songs, drum line and graphic arts.
Mr. Frankforther is survived by his parents; grandmother, Jean Myers; son, Logan Frankforther; best friend, Matt Puterbaugh; girlfriend, Christine Bumcrots; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hazel and Marion Frankforther and Bert Myers.
Friends and family were received on July 7 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, with services that evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Logan Frankforther in care of Fifth Third Bank.
Jack Leo Reno, age 84, of Maumee, passed away on Wednesday, July 4.
Born in Toledo on February 13, 1934 to James and Florence (Douglas) Reno, he was a truck driver for Hall’s Motor Transit and Tri-State Enterprises as an owner/operator. During retirement, he worked part time at Ed Schmidt Truck Store. Mr. Reno was a member of the Maumee Eagles, VFW and the Toledo Ice Yacht Club. He enjoyed radio control, sailboat racing, fishing, bird watching and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Reno; son, Jeff (Kim) Reno; daughter, Julie (Chris Spychalski) Reno; grandson, Justin Henry; great-granddaughter, Sofia Henry; brother, Jim (Nancy) Reno; and sister-in-law, Kathy Reno. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chuck Reno.
Family and friends were received on July 9 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
