Alice (Leger/Saunders) Beavers, age 87, passed away on Sunday, May 20, with her family by her side.
Born on May 7, 1931 to Albert and Thelma Leger, she was a member of the Class of 1949 at Whitmer High School and worked in the retail industry until her retirement. She enjoyed visiting her out-of-state relatives and going to the casinos in many different states.
She is survived by her children, Charles Saunders, Joseph Saunders, Clifford (Sharon) Saunders, Mary Lynn Bick and Marcia Owad; stepchildren, Michelle (Eddie) Breitfelder and Kevin (Gigi) Beavers; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren (with one more grandson due in September); three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Lloyd (Jane) Carey, Judy (Al) Koslosky, Jill (Al) Greene and Sandie (Morris) Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald Saunders and Gene Beavers; brother, Albert Leger; sister, Margie Noe; granddaughter, Jennifer; and great-grandson, Joseph.
The funeral service was conducted on May 25 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, followed by interment in Restlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Katherine “Danita” Smith, age 62, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, May 21.
Born in Virginia Beach, Va., on July 19, 1955 to Kenneth and Grace Milburn, she is survived by her husband, Keith; parents, Kenneth and Grace; sons, Dan (Robin) and Chris (Nicole); eight special grandchildren; sisters, Grace and Marlene; brothers, Chuck and Danny; and special friends, Brenda and Edith.
Funeral services took place on May 26 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee. Memorial contributions may be directed to Genacross Lutheran Services, Wolf Creek Campus or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Raymond Henry Frankhouse, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 22.
Born in Monroe, Mich., to John and Clara Frankhouse on February 27, 1926, he is survived by his daughter, Dale Marie Harmon; son, Danny (Toni) Frankhouse; brothers, Donald Frankhouse, of Albuquerque, N.M., Charles (Shirley) Frank-house, of Grand Haven, Mich., and Michael (Ruth) Frankhouse, of Elmore, Ohio.
Graveside services will be performed at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Jan Suleski, age 79, of Maumee, passed away on Wednesday, May 23.
Born in Bellevue, Ohio on April 21, 1939, the second of four girls (Imogene, Carroll, Marsha), to Vincent and Edna Wise, she worked at David Broadway’s Salon in Sylvania for more than 40 years, working with some clients that entire time. She relished her kitchen and loved cooking for her family, friends and anyone in need. Her gardens were always bountiful with flowers, fruit and vegetables, which she generously shared. Jan’s family and friends will miss the world’s best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, which she always seemed to have available whenever anyone visited. She loved playing cards, entertaining and solving the world’s problems while cutting hair. She was active in her community at St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary and a long-standing member of St. Joseph Parish in Maumee. Jan was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who never forgot a birthday and always made a favorite flavor cake to celebrate.
She will be dearly missed and is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, John; son, Robert (Jamie) Topp and his children, Natalie and Lauren; daughter, Susan Moriarty and her children, Katlyn and Connor; daughter, Melinda (Jeff) Kromenacker and her children, Jeff and Courtney; Courtney’s three children, Ava, P.J. and Savannah; and stepchildren, Krystal (Greg) Bowman, Michael Suleski, Julie (Steve) Pilcher, Lori (Tim) Womac and Kelly (Gary) Olson. She was loving step-grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
