AW Wrestling Wins Its Own Dual Tournament

BY JOEL SENSENIG | MIRROR SPORTS — The Anthony Wayne wrestling team won its own duals tournament last Saturday, going 5-0 to take the 10-team event. The Generals defeated each of the five teams they faced to earn the AW Duals championship. They started with a first-round victory over Central Catholic, 57-18. Next, they cruised past Northview, 67-12, before another easy win over Sandusky, 55-18. AW saw its closest competition in the fourth round, when it edged Berea-Midpark, 37-35. The Generals easily won the first-place dual over Perkins, 49-15. Anthony Wayne had four wrestlers go 5-0 on the day: senior Cody Hutt (126 pounds), sophomore Zach Snyder (132), sophomore Brody Stultz (152) and senior Ethan Baumbarger (160). Additionally, the Generals saw five wrestlers go 4-1: sophomore Bryce Gilts (106), senior Nick Glowski (120), senior Nick Schneider (138), sophomore Wendell Stewart (220) and senior Cole Ragan (285). Senior Dom Caraccio (160) went 3-1 on the day, while junior Luke Harrell (195, three wins) junior Jack Zielinski (113, one), junior Peyton Elliott (138, two), and senior Max Elliott (182, one) also got wins for Anthony Wayne.
