BY JOEL SENSENIG | MIRROR SPORTS — The Anthony Wayne boys and girls swim teams were both victorious in a meet at Ayersville on December 12. The boys team scored 63 points, topping two Ayersville teams (30 and 31 points, respectively), while the girls scored 44 points in the meet to top Ayersville’s two teams (38 and 21 points). Bowling Green also competed in the meet, although it was scored as a dual between the other two schools. Boys Freshmen Wade and Will LaMastus placed first and second in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 25.34 and 25.80, respectively. In the 200 medley relay, freshmen Bobby Rigali and Wade LaMastus, sophomore Justin Meeker and junior Josh Ellis were second with a time of 2:11.53. Rigali placed second in the 200 free, finishing in 2:22.97, while freshman Zach Celestino was first in the 200 individual medley (2:39.61) and junior Nick Celestino was second (2:39.75). Will LaMastus won the 100 butterfly in 1:02.78, while Meeker was first in the 100 free (1:02.72). Wade LaMastus finished first in the 500 free (5:21.56) and Zach Celestino was third (6:16.83). The 200 free relay team of freshman Aiden Smith, Rigali, Meeker and Will LaMastus finished first (1:55.77), while Zach Celestino, Ellis, Wade LaMastus and freshman Xavier Uresti were second (2:01.78). Freshman Sterling Ebel was third in the 100 backstroke (1:12.50), while Ellis was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.28) and Nick Celestino finished third (1:25.80). In the 400 free relay, AW’s team of Nick Celestino, Ebel, Will LaMastus and Uresti was third (4:33.25). Girls Juniors Lily Hunter, Kameron Sallows and Sam Sucheck and sophomore Mary Borek were first in the 200 medley relay (2:16.42), while Borek was second in the 200 free (2:47.31) and Sucheck finished first in the 200 individual medley (2:42.16). Freshman Grace Ellis was first in the 500 free (29.65), followed by Sallows (32.85). Hunter finished first in the 100 fly (1:10.61), while Ellis was tops in the 100 free (1:06.20) and Sucheck won the 500 free (6:07.89). Hunter, Ellis, Morek and Sallows were first in the 200 free relay (2:02.23), while Sallows finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:43.74) and Hunter won the 100 breaststroke (1:20.22).
